“The Best Sequel” From an Iconic Horror Franchise Is About to Leave Netflix—Don’t Miss This “phenomenal thrill ride”

Netflix is always changing up its lineup. It almost feels as though just as you start to get comfortable with the idea that you can find one of your favorite films in their streaming catalog, the platform pulls a fast one and you’re out of luck.
They’ve even begun pulling their original content off the platform, as is evidenced by the removal of the interactive feature Black Mirror: Bandersnatch. The latest removal to catch our eye is not a Netflix original, but a beloved slasher sequel from celebrated directorial collective Radio Silence.
Indeed, Netflix has announced plans to pull Scream VI from their streaming lineup on July 25, 2025, meaning that your last day to watch the flick there is July 24, 2025.
What happens in Scream VI?
The film sees four survivors of the Ghostface murders leave Woodsboro behind for a fresh start in New York City. However, they soon find themselves in a fight for their lives when a new killer embarks on a bloody rampage.
I am super bummed that Netflix is taking Scream VI down. It’s easily the most fun I’ve had with a Scream sequel to date. And you know what, I’m in good company with that assessment. Our Josh Korngut is equally taken with this gruesome sequel. In his rave review, Korngut awarded the film four out of five stars and labeled it “the best sequel of the franchise.”

He goes on to say, “…every damn beat of this film was entertaining and joyous to behold. For those of you worried about this Ghostface chapter, you have nothing to be concerned about. The Radio Silence filmmaking team’s capable hands can officially be trusted. Scream VI is a phenomenal thrill ride through New York City. It utilizes its new levels and tropes to their full potential while still respecting its roots and legacy characters. While it’s a risky declaration to make so early, I must admit that this latest sequel is likely the best in the franchise, second only to the original.”
I concur with everything Korngut has to say. I love the way that the series’ sixth installment takes things in a new direction while still staying true to the franchise’s roots. Not to mention, bringing Kirby (Hayden Panettiere) back feels like the perfect bridge between the original films and the new era. Bravo.
That’s just about all that we’ve got for you at present, dear reader. Stay tuned to the site in the near future for even more exciting updates from the streaming scene.
