Noise 23 568x320 - A Disturbing New Psychological Thriller Just Hit Netflix [Video]

Netflix gets a lot of flak, much of it deserved, for their handling of horror releases, especially international horror fare. Don’t Listen, The Call, and Incantation are some of the best original horror titles in years (both The Call and Incantation made my Best Of lists for 2020 and 2022 respectively), though for the casual viewer, they might as well not exist.

At best, Netflix will post a tweet day-of to announce a newly added title. At worst, they simply appear on the streamer, possibly highlighted as a new release, though sometimes not even that. It’s why Belgian thriller Noise, released March 17 on the streamer, is poised to disappear almost as soon as it premieres. That’s a shame. Check out the chilling trailer for the thriller below.

In Noise, “After moving his family into his childhood home, a man’s investigation into a local factory accident connected to his father unveils dark family secrets.” While it might sound pretty conventional, Steffen Geypens’ thriller is elevated by a moody commitment to deep characterization, some stunning cinematography, and a twisty plot that will keep viewers guessing until the end.

It’s the perfect pulpy treat for the weekend, especially for fans of psychological thrillers. In the age of streaming. it’s worth highlighting. With more and more content available now than ever before, even with appropriate marketing, it’s easy for new titles to fall by the wayside. While Noise doesn’t have the star power or scale as some other big hitters (everyone is going to be streaming Cocaine Bear this weekend, I just know it), the Belgian-Dutch feature is a worthwhile foray into the supernatural that iterates successfully upon a pretty standard formula. That is to say, it’s worth making some noise for.

What do you think? Do you plan to check out Noise this weekend? Let me know over on Twitter @Chadiscollins. And while you’re there, let me know what other streaming horror titles I need to check out!
