‘Final Destination 6’ Will Reportedly Change Its Deathly Formula, Says Franchise Creator Jeffrey Reddick

Tony Todd - Final Destination

Final Destination, one of the most enduring horror franchises of the 2000s, is now being resurrected by HBO Max and Spiderman: No Way Home director Jon Watts. The latest chapter is to be written by Scream scribe Guy Busick and Lori Evans Taylor (Wicked Wicked Games). Now original franchise creator Jeffery Reddick sits down with Dread Central to reveal some interesting insight into the upcoming reboot.

Speaking with Dread Central’s Tyler Doupe, Final Destination creator Jeffrey Reddick shares a glimpse of what the new film may look like. The key tease is that there will be a major shake-up of the original franchise formula.

Speaking with Tyler Doupe, Reddick stated: “I will say that it’s not just going to be another kind of ‘we set up a group of people, they cheat death, and then just death gets them.’ And there’s one wrinkle that we kind of added to every movie to kind of like change it up a little bit: this one is… a true Final Destination movie, but it doesn’t follow that kind of formula that we’ve kind of established.” Reddick also added: “I’m really excited with the story that I can’t tell you about.”

While producer Jon Watts may have skyrocketed to fame via the new Spiderman films, he first found success creating the brutal horror movie Clown. Next up for Watts is a reboot of Marvel’s Fantastic Four franchise.

Lastly, how do you feel about a new Final Destination landing on HBO Max? Are you ready for some bonkers kill sequences, or would you rather the franchise stayed on the tarmac? Let me know on Twitter via @joshkorngut. I’m always around to chat about all things Final Destination!
