Everything coming to Magnolia Selects’ “Monsters & Nightmares” channel in June

At the Gate of the Ghost (2011)

In this adaptation of the Japanese film Rashomon, a young monk leaves town to seek his father’s counsel after being disturbed by the murder trial testimony of the bandit Singh Khan, the wife of the deceased warlord, and a shaman who conjures up the warlord’s spirit.

Bad Milo! (2013)

Duncan’s (Ken Marino) mounting stress triggers an insufferable gastrointestinal reaction. Out of ideas and at the end of his rope, Duncan seeks the help of a hypnotherapist, who helps him discover the root of his unusual stomach pain: a pint-sized demon living in his intestine that, when triggered by excessive anxiety, forces its way out and slaughters the people who have caused Duncan stress. Out of fear that his intestinal gremlin may target its wrath on the wrong person, Duncan attempts to befriend it, naming it Milo and indulging it to keep its seemingly insatiable appetite at bay.

George A. Romero’s Survival of the Dead (2010)

Zombies have taken over the world, and a ragtag band of soldiers led by Sarge Crockett (Alan Van Sprang) roams the countryside trying to scavenge what they can. Constantly on guard against flesh-eaters, the group is intrigued when they hear of a safe haven on Plum Island. But when they arrive, they find the supposed paradise torn apart by a family feud between the O’Flynns, who want to exterminate all zombies, and the Muldoons, who coexist peacefully with their undead relatives.

Higher Power (2018)

When the Universe decides what it wants, it is pointless to resist. With his family’s lives at stake, Joseph Steadman (Ron Eldard) finds himself the unwilling test subject of a maniacal scientist in a battle that could save the world. Or destroy it.

The Ones Below (2015)

After giving birth to her first child, a woman (Clémence Poésy) believes that her downstairs neighbors have sinister intentions.

Rites of Passage (2011)

Nathan (Ryan Donowho), an anthropology student, invites a few of his classmates and their professor to his family’s abandoned ranch, once a sacred Chumash burial ground, to recreate an ancient ceremony. There, they meet Nathan’s psychotic older brother Benny (Wes Bentley), and drug-fueled Delgado (Christian Slater). The students then embark on a rite of passage that no one will ever forget.

S&Man (2006)

S&MAN is a movie about voyeurism and underground horror, focusing on our balance of sympathy and sadism when we watch death. J.T. Petty, a filmmaker responsible for his own underground horror films, tracks down and interviews psychologists, scholars, actors, and most importantly—the underground and extreme filmmakers themselves.

Splinter (2008)

When their plans for a nature trip go awry, Polly Watt (Jill Wagner) and her boyfriend Seth Belzer (Paulo Costanzo) decide to check into a motel. Along the way, they encounter kidnappers and an increasingly terrifying horde of parasites.
