More casting news has come in for Legendary Pictures’ upcoming remake of the Toho classic Godzilla as the great David Strathairn is in talks to help fend off the ginormous fire-breathing behemoth from Japan!
He joins the previously announced Aaron Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Juliette Binoche, and Bryan Cranston, who are also currently in talks, with Gareth Edwards attached to direct.
Legendary’s Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni will produce along with Mary Parent, who helped produce Pacific Rim for Legendary. Character descriptions, along with other plot details, are under wraps for now, but sources say Strathairn (most recently seen in “Alphas”) would be playing a military figure.
Directed by Edwards from a script polished by Frank Darabont, Godzilla is still on course to begin production this month with the film dated for a May 16, 2014, release.
