The Lords of Salem – Rob Zombie Preaches Some Gospel

Say what you will about musician/filmmaker Rob Zombie; he does things his way, and hit or miss that is to be respected. While more news about his latest film The Lords of Salem will be forthcoming, Zombie shared something today that will have horror fans applauding. Dig it.
“At this time there are no plans to use any CGI in LORDS,” says Zombie on his official blog. “I am not a fan of it although I think it can be very effective [if] used in very subtle ways. But no one uses it that way. To me most live action films are basically turning into animated films. I also think even great actors come off as stiff and awkward when shot on a green screen. We have begun working, but not shooting yet. This is a very practical FX heavy film, so that department has been working for awhile building insane shit. I will start after the summer. No one is on board yet but casting will start very soon.”
Right on. Jason Blum, Steven Schneider, and Oren Peli of Haunted Pictures will be producing as well as Zombie regulars Andy Gould and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones. More as it comes.
Synopsis
Heidi, a blonde rock chick, DJs at a local radio station and, together with the two Hermans (Whitey and Munster), forms part of the “Big H Radio Team”.
A mysterious wooden box containing a vinyl record arrives for Heidi, “a gift from the Lords”. She assumes it’s a rock band on a mission to spread their word. As Heidi and Whitey play the Lords’ record, it starts to play backwards, and Heidi experiences a flashback to a past trauma.
Later Whitey plays the Lords’ record, dubbing them the Lords of Salem, and to his surprise, the record plays normally and is a massive hit with listeners.
The arrival of another wooden box from the Lords presents the Big H Team with free tickets, posters and records to host a gig in Salem. Soon Heidi and her cohorts find that the gig is far from the rock spectacle they’re expecting: The original Lords of Salem are returning, and they’re out for BLOOD.
