Watch this Quentin Tarantino Classic Before It Leaves Netflix in 2 Days!

Last week, news arrived that Quentin Tarantino’s The Movie Critic had been scrapped. Planned as the famed director’s final film, the movie now joins Tarantino’s R-rated Star Trek as another project bound to the realm of what-ifs. Production had been moving along, with Brad Pitt attached to star and subsidies secured in California.

Now, Tarantino fans are left wondering what his next movie might actually be. To make matters worse, one of Tarantino’s best, 2015’s The Hateful Eight, is slated to leave Netflix on April 24.

Per Netflix: Years after the Civil War, a bounty hunter and his captive are waylaid by a Wyoming blizzard and hole up in a way station with six dicey strangers.

Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight ended its theatrical run with plenty of box office receipts and even a few Oscar nominations for its stacked cast of character players. Additionally, it arrived just three years after Django Unchained, which itself arrived just three years after Inglourious Basterds. If you liked either of those, you’ll likely be thrilled with The Hateful Eight as it bears more in common with his later work than it does his early career.

2019’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood would hit theaters four years after Eight. Now that The Movie Critic has been scrapped, we’re going on five years of no new Tarantino, with the wait now expectedly much longer before we see his long-awaited tenth, and ostensibly final, film in theaters.

Which, of course, makes it an ideal time to fill in any blind spots. The Hateful Eight was a big one for me, though it now ranks among my favorites of his. If Tarantino’s inimitable style doesn’t work for you, this tale of strangers trapped in a storm won’t do much to change your mind. But for those already on board, it ranks among his more confident, tense, and thrilling pieces of work.
