It’s not every day two horror titans join forces to give us an underrated gem. So, we are ecstatic to see this George A. Romero and Stephen King classic on Prime Video. If you’re one of the people who missed out on 1993’s The Dark Half, we have a recommendation for you. Read the synopsis and watch the trailer below.

In the film,

“Thad Beaumont (Timothy Hutton) has had success writing novels under both his real name and his pseudonym, George Stark, which he uses to publish base thrillers. When word gets out that they are one and the same, the author holds a mock funeral for Stark. But after a rash of murders eerily similar to those in the Stark books, Thad and his wife, Liz (Amy Madigan), realize that Stark is real and responsible, and must work with local Sheriff Pangborn (Michael Rooker) to stop him.”

The Dark Half was written and directed by the late George A. Romero. It was adapted from a Stephen King novel of the same name. The movie stars Timothy Hutton, Amy Madigan, Julie Harris, and Michael Rooker.

While George Romero and Stephen King collaborated quite a few times, The Dark Half and Creepshow (1982) are usually the two most horror fans think of when talking about this unholy union. If you’re not a Prime Video subscriber, you can catch the movie for free on Pluto TV, The Roku Channel, and Tubi.

The Dark Half is one of the few Stephen King adaptations I haven’t seen. I’ve read the book, and the movie has been on my list forever. This is my time to finally take care of this oversight. Have you seen the movie? Does it live up to the book? Let me know what you think at @misssharai.
