Horror Director Mike Flanagan Raves Over New Streaming Found-Footage Shocker: “Chilling stuff”

Hell House LLC Origins

I love finding out filmmakers are into the same movies that the rest of us are losing our minds over. So, I’m giddy that horror director Mike Flanagan took to his Letterboxd account to gush over one of my favorite titles to hit Shudder this Halloween season. It turns out that he’s also a huge fan of Hell House LLC Origins: The Carmichael Manor.

Flanagan seems to be here for the whole franchise. However, he is praising fellow filmmaker Stephen Cognetti for his work on this entry specifically. Mike wrote that Cognetti “has really made the found-footage scare itself into a science, but fortunately also pours a lot of care into atmosphere, dread, and character.”

While the rest of us were in the group chats and Twitter streets, Flanagan was out making his love of the film Letterboxd official. If you have somehow missed the fourth film in this wicked franchise, then let me shed some light on this haunted manor for you.

Official Synopsis

“The story takes place in 2021 and follows a group of internet sleuths who travel to the remote Carmichael Manor. Located deep in the woods of Rockland County, New York, the estate is the site of the infamous 1989 Carmichael family murders that have gone unsolved to this day. What they discover are secrets that have been hidden away for decades and a terror that has been lurking in the shadows long before Hell House.”

Hell House LLC Origins: The Carmichael Manor was written and directed by Stephen Cognetti. It stars Bridget Rose Perrotta, Destiny Leilani Brown, James Liddell, and Gideon Berger.

I had been waiting on this movie since it was announced, so I hit play the second I could. This is another recommendation I have to agree with Mike Flanagan on. I would even be so bold as to say this is one of my favorite movies in the series. However, nobody cares what I think.
