Many horror fans are obsessed with Mike Flanagan’s work. Many are even quick to claim that every Netflix series he puts out is a work of art and that his Stephen King adaptations are some of the best they have ever seen. Because he is a filmmaker known for tackling gothic, fantastic, and challenging themes, a lot of us are left wondering what he watches in his downtime.

Like myself, it looks like Flanagan happens to enjoy short horror films. At least, that is what we have pieced together from the recommendation he left on Twitter this week. Flanagan alerted his followers that the horror short Love You Mama was available on YouTube while also highlighting the filmmaker and two of his favorite actors’ performances.

See what Mike Flanagan wrote about the film:

That’s exciting praise for a filmmaker’s debut film from one of horror’s most influential figures. So, we took Mike Flanagan’s word and did a little digging to see what we could learn about this new creepy horror short. Buckle up because it is about to get weird.

Love You Mama was written and directed by Alexandra Magistro and stars Madeleine Arthur, Samantha Sloyan, and Matt Biedel.

In the film, after the sudden death of her father, a young woman becomes haunted by the uncertainty of the world around her.

The short is just barely over twenty minutes long and has been running the festival circuit with major stops like the Fantasia Film Festival and Fright Fest. Love You Mama only arrived on YouTube three weeks ago when it was uploaded by Basement Widow Productions.
