Sex and horror have had a long, hard, and entangled history together. For better or worse, horror has been associated with all things sex, nudity, and exploitation for as long as anyone can remember. And why not? Sex and horror have a lot in common: they’re both societal taboos that we crave harder the more we’re told to look away. Now Redditor Darth_Plagueiswise asks the important question: what are some of the horniest horror titles available for the curious spooky voyeur?
The first film on Reddit’s list of sexy scary films is awarded to the 1995 sci-fi quasi-classic Species. Directed by Roger Donaldson, Species stars the statuesque Natasha Henstridge as an extraterrestrial-human hybrid who bangs it out with a human dude. Things get weirder from there. Alien-affiliated monster designer H.R. Giger was responsible for some of the creature effects in this, and anyone familiar with the works of Giger know how horny his art can be. The film was followed up by three sequels of varying quality: Species II, Species III, and finally Species: The Awakening in 2007. When will a horny suit finally reboot this outrageous series already?
Another horny as hell title from the following list is The Hunger starring David Bowie, Susan Sarandon, and Catherine Deneuve. A classic early-80s vampire romance never to be forgotten, The Hunger was based on a book of the same title from author Whitley Strieber. This bizarre erotic horror film is now considered to be an example of queer cinema at its finest. In the documentary The Celluloid Closet, Sarandon speaks in detail about the lesbian romance sequence in the film. With a cast as hot as this, it would be tough for it to escape ending up on this list.

As a horny Canadian myself, it would be irresponsible for me to pass over the aforementioned list without discussing David Cronenberg’s 1975 classic Shivers. Also outrageously known as They Came From Within, Shivers is a French Canadian cornucopia of sex, body horror and nasty madness. It stars horror icon Barbara Steele alongside the down-to-clown Paul Hampton and Lynn Lowry. Famous for being one of the most successful Canadian films of all time, Shivers is a disgusting legacy my beautiful country so rightly deserves. Check it out if you haven’t already. It’s nasty.
And speaking of nasty, how about we take a minute to mediate on the mayhem and madness that is Brian Yuzna’s 1989 masterwork Society. This body horror monstrosity concerns a teenager who discovers that his wealthy parents belong to a sex cult which are up to absolutely no goddamn good. The grotesqueness of Society is unparalleled, with effects helmed by the one and only Screaming Mad George. Butt-faces, incest, and crumbling vertebrae; this title is not for the faint of heart.
