‘Crimes of the Future’ Teaser — David Cronenberg Brings The Body Horror In First Trailer [Watch]

Everyone’s favorite grandaddy of the grotesque is back with the Cannes Official Selection Crimes of the Future. Now a teaser trailer for the David Cronenberg (dir. The Fly, The Dead Zone) joint has been unleashed today by NEON. The new footage appears to be a mind-melting return to body horror for the legendary Canadian director.

Thankfully we can all except to set our sights on the latest horror show this June when Crimes of the Future arrives exclusively in theaters. The outlandish and unsettling trailer for the new film is stuffed full of bizarre and disgusting imagery, check it out below.

Crimes of the Future has a star-studded cast, including Viggo Mortensen, Kristen Stewart, and Léa Seydoux. Stewart is fresh off of an Oscar nomination for her portrayal of Princess Diana in last year’s Spencer.

In Crimes of the Future,

“As the human species adapts to a synthetic environment, the body undergoes new transformations and mutations. With his partner Caprice (Léa Seydoux), Saul Tenser (Viggo Mortensen), celebrity performance artist, publicly showcases the metamorphosis of his organs in avant-garde performances. Timlin (Kristen Stewart), an investigator from the National Organ Registry, obsessively tracks their movements, which is when a mysterious group is revealed… Their mission – to use Saul’s notoriety to shed light on the next phase of human evolution.”

Other familiar faces you can expect to spot in the film include Scott Speedman, Welket Bungué, Don McKellar, Lihi Kornowski, Tanaya Beatty, Nadia Litz, Yorgos Karamichos, and Yorgos Pirpassopoulos.
