New ‘Alien’ Film In The Works From ‘Evil Dead’ Director Fede Álvarez!

Horror hero Fede Álvarez is now directing an all new Alien movie. The filmmaker made a name for himself over the past decade by directing and producing a slew of high-octane horror titles. His most notable work is the well-received 2013 Evil Dead remake which won over the hearts of horror fans all of other the world. He also helmed Don’t Breathe and produced the recent Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

Another fun fact is that Álvarez will be writing the script for the new Alien outing, making this new project the visionary director’s singular vision. Original franchise creator Ridley Scott has likely signed off on the hiring, as the legendary filmmaker will be producing the new film by way of his Scott Free label. According to Variety, the project will likely end up streaming on Hulu.

An intergalactic legacy

In 1979, Earth was privy to the original film which concerned a spaceship that has an unfortunate run-in with a very mean, very scary star beast. Alien, which is now one of horror’s more treasured titles, starred Sigourney Weaver in a role she would reprise three more times. Other cast members included Tom Skerritt, Veronica Cartwright, Harry Dean Stanton, John Hurt, Ian Holm and Yaphet Kotto.

The franchise has since expanded with sequels Aliens, Alien 3, Alien: Resurrection, Alien Vs. Predator, AVP: Requiem and a handful of prequel films. This new title is not the only Xenomorph universe expansion in the works. FX and Hulu are actively developing an Alien series which is reported to take place right here on earth. What a treat.
