A Friendly Dinner Party Turns Deadly in ‘Barbarians’ [Trailer]
We were due for another home invasion movie and director Charles Dorfman has delivered with his film Barbarians. Starring Iwan Rheon from Game of Thrones, the film covers a rather tumultuous and violent day.
Set over the course of twenty-four hours, Barbarians sees couple Adam and Eva wake up in their supposed dream house on Adam’s birthday. Lucas, property developer and friend of the couple, arrives for dinner with his actress girlfriend Chloe, to celebrate Adam’s birthday and the couple’s buying of the house. But secrets unravel over dinner, and when the doorbell rings the evening takes a nightmarish turn. As manners give way to madness, an ‘idyllic’ evening of celebration descends into a dark night of terror; and the group’s civilized dinner party turns out to be anything but.

The trailer shows a movie that may go beyond the typical home invasion narrative. With antagonistic vibes growing between friends before the bad guys even show up, Barbarians looks like a fascinating spin on the terrifying subgenre.
Catalina Sandino Moreno, Tom Cullen and Inès Spiridonov also star in the film.
Barbarians hits theaters and on demand April 1, 2022.
