SPAWN Reboot Crossed New Threshold Last Week Teases Todd McFarlane

Todd McFarlane and Blumhouse are working on a new Spawn movie. And today, McFarlane teases the new film has crossed a threshold. Whatever that means…

He tells ComicBook.com: “It’s the same sort of frustration. I keep saying the same thing, and at some point, I’m sure it falls on deaf ears, but we just added another person. Movement is happening. We crossed a threshold literally last week.”

Whatever happens with Blumhouse and McFarlane’s reboot, Jamie Foxx confirms he’s still absolutely still up to play Al Simmons. He says: “I surprised Todd McFarlane. I said, ‘Bro, I know that one day you will do this movie, and I hope you will keep me in mind.’ What Black Panther did was let us know that it’s so necessary, and it’s the time. And Spawn is just an interesting character in itself. The heads that are being put together to bring you something special – look out.”

Spawn follows a government assassin who is killed after being double-crossed by his boss. Upon arriving in Hell, he is offered an opportunity to return to Earth if he’s willing to lead an evil army. He accepts and is reincarnated as a “Hellspawn” — a twisted, horribly disfigured version of his former self. However, Spawn serves as a force of good, much to the dismay of the Devil’s henchman, a wicked clown.
