Yes, Stephen King Would Have Been a Character in Amazon’s DARK TOWER

Amazon’s adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower was canceled after filming the pilot. And today showrunner Glen Mazzara (The Walking Dead) talked about one of the most controversial elements – King appearing as himself in the books.
Mazzara tells The Kingcast: “… if Stephen was up for it we would’ve done it, or I would’ve cast someone to play Stephen King…But if Stephen King’s gonna be a character in the books, I felt like I had to be a character in the show…”

The Dark Tower is a series of eight books (and one short story) by King that incorporates multiple genres like dark fantasy, science fiction, horror, and Western.
The story begins the “The Gunslinger” which follows Roland Deschain, the last gunslinger, who has been chasing his adversary, “the man in black,” for many years. The novel follows Roland’s trek through a vast desert and beyond in search of the man in black. Roland meets several people along his journey, including a boy named Jake Chambers, who travels with him part of the way.

The Dark Tower was already adapted into a movie back in 2017 with Idris Elba as Roland Deschain and Matthew McConaughey as The Man in Black. The film sports a 16% approval rating over on Rotten Tomatoes with a Critics Consensus that reads: Go then, there are other Stephen King adaptations than these.
