Butt Out! Netflix Adopts Sweeping Changes Following STRANGER THINGS 3 Backlash

Censorship or appropriate compromise: You decide.

Netflix is making sweeping changes to its original programming following a blistering indictment by the anti-smoking Truth organization. The groups is hot under the collar about the amount of smoking in the latest season of the streaming giant’s mega-hit horror/sci-fi series, Stranger Things, released on July 4th.

Going forward, Netflix will not allow any smoking (or even vaping) in original programming rated PG-13 and below. Shows and films rated TV-MA and R respectively, will only allow smoking when it is absolutely necessary, as in the case of maintaining historical accuracy.

For a full rundown on the situation, check out the video embedded at the top of the article from our friends at Looper.

What do you think, horror fans? Should Netflix bend to the Truth campaign or should the non-profit group butt out? Let us know in the comments below or on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram! You can also carry on the convo with me personally on Twitter @josh_millican.
