New MIDSOMMAR Trailer Hits All the Right Notes

A24 has released a new trailer for their upcoming folk horror film Midsommar, which comes from the mind of Hereditary‘s Ari Aster. This new trailer certainly expands on the story, showing a couple on the edge of breaking up attending a once-in-a-lifetime festival only to be subjected to a series of psychedelic and surreal events. Throw in some grief, jealousy, and sleep deprivation (9 pm looks like 1 pm on a normal summer day) and it’s easy to see how these characters will snap under the slightest bit of pressure.

Dani (Florence Pugh) and Christian (Jack Reynor) are a young American couple with a relationship on the brink of falling apart. But after a family tragedy keeps them together, a grieving Dani invites herself to join Christian and his friends on a trip to a once-in-a-lifetime midsummer festival in a remote Swedish village. What begins as a carefree summer holiday in a land of eternal sunlight takes a sinister turn when the insular villagers invite their guests to partake in festivities that render the pastoral paradise increasingly unnerving and viscerally disturbing.

Written and directed by Hereditary‘s Ari Aster, Midsommar stars Florence Pugh, Jack Reynor, William Jackson Harper, Vilhelm Blomgren, Archie Madekwe, Ellora Torchia, and Will Poulter.
