Prepare Yourself for the Teaser Trailer for Forbidden Dimensions, Stills and More!Melting flesh, gruesome alien mutations, post-apocalyptic machinery, pus-shooting creatures, tits, automatic weaponry and a decidedly NSFW teaser trailer. Occasionally things come across our desks here at Dread Central that make us to grin ear to ear.

Such is the case with the teaser trailer for the insane Forbidden Dimensions.

Executive produced by Warren I. Abbot and written and directed by Chris Miller, the Z Sky Productions/Razorwire Films low-budget feature Forbidden Dimensions‘ festival run and distribution are imminent, so we thought it time to chat with some of the flick’s principals, including filmmaker Miller and stars Kyle Morris and Jamie Katonic.

“What we were trying to do with Forbidden Dimensions was to recreate the look and feel of the great horror/sci-fi flicks of the 80’s,” director Miller told us of the film, which was shot between September of 2012 and February of this year. “That’s why there’s no greenscreen shots in the movie, and CGI was used sparingly, mostly for touch-up work.”

Filmed in California’s Mojave Desert and in and around Los Angeles on the Canon 5D, “We had real sets, prosthetic makeup effects, animatronics, puppets and stop-motion animation,” Miller stated of the film, which also stars Carl Crew (Blood Diner) and porn stars Brittany Oneil and Amy Daly. “This is how a film should be made. It’s Max Headroom meets Dune on the set of Road Warrior.”

Chatting with actor Kyle Morris (American Girls, Reel Evil), who portrays the film’s lead ‘Jack Slade,’ he said of his Forbidden Dimensions experience, “It was intense. We had a very low budget but were able to find locations for a reasonable rate that only increased the positivity of the filming process. I’ve worked with Chris in the past, and we were able to communicate comfortably and had a trust and understanding as to what the initial goal was of the film. We’re both fans of 80’s horror/sci-fi and practical FX, and I had no doubts that it was gonna be a blast. One day we went to Wasteland Weekend, which was a post-apocalyptic Burning Man basically, and with permission to shoot, we ran around filming like kids in a toy store.”

As to what attracted him to such a gonzo production, “They were probably obvious reasons!” Morris effused. “Chris was one of my best friends and offered me the paying gig, and I knew there was gonna be a lot of gore and FX. And after shooting with him in the past, I knew that there would be very little complication, if any, before, during, and after filming. Also, the role was a lead, essentially about a normal guy in a world full of crazies. And I had never done a post-apocalyptic film before. Being a fan of Mad Max, Thunderdome, etc., I knew it was gonna be a blend of those films with a sci-fi twist, but it also seemed like a David Lynch film all the while.”

Co-star Katonic (co-creator of the forthcoming horror comic book series Miss Katonic, which she’s created along with Zak Hennessey and the rock band GWAR!) stated of her performance in Forbidden Dimensions, “Even though I was naked in three quarters of the movie, covered in purple goo, making out with puppets, and sometimes covered in blood and completely freezing, it didn’t seem to bother me a bit! I was focused on the story, and the comfort level around the director, his crew, and Kyle was always at a total maximum, and when filming was over, I’d wander around the studio forcing Kyle to take photos of me and the life-size alien drone puppets in compromising positions!”

Regarding her attraction to the material, “Who wouldn’t want to be the leader of a post-apocalyptic army in a ‘B’ horror film and be called the ‘Star Child’?” she posited. “This kind of role was right up my alley! I want to keep my life fun, creative and adventurous, and I can definitely say I’ve checked yet another thing off my list in life this year that I’d hoped to accomplish since childhood.”

Stay tuned for a theatrical trailer, poster and official website soon, and in the interim check out actress Jamie Katonic’s comic here!

Synopsis:
Jack Slade was born during a solar eclipse in the year 1980. 18 years later, he finds out he has the ability to travel into the future. He projects himself into the year 2035, where society has been destroyed by a fascist regiment of psychopathic doctors that rule the wastelands, creating deformed mutants with a serum synthesized from the flesh of dead aliens. Now Slade must travel back to the year 1998 to destroy a device known as the wavelength generator, which opened the dimensional gateways to these alien beings. With the help of an army of female outlaws and a sleazy detective, Slade re-connects with the star child Khadijah, who holds the key to stopping these tragic events from ever taking place.
