‘Terrifier 3’ Gets Release Date; Horrific Opening Scene In Part Why Major Studios Are Not Involved

Get ready for eyeballs as ornaments, entrails as garland, and severed heads as stars atop Christmas trees. After successful theatrical re-releases of Damien Leone’s Terrifier and Terrifier 2, Cineverse and Bloody Disgusting have announced the Christmas-themed Terrifier 3 will officially bow theatrically in theaters across North America on October 25, 2024.
Arriving in theaters two years after Terrifier 2 became the uber-gory, indie sensation to beat ($15 million worldwide), fans who caught Terrifier 2 during its re-release this past October were treated to an exclusive sneak peek of Terrifier 3. The short promo reportedly showed Art the Clown in full Santa Claus garb, highlighting the new Christmas setting as Art the Clown unleashes gruesome mayhem on the residents of Miles County on Christmas Eve.
Franchise creator Leone recently spoke with JoBlo about the potential of major studio involvement. But it seems like a truly sadistic opening sequence is, in part, why a mainstream Terrifier 3 was never in the cards.
Leone’s Terrifier 2 became a viral, word-of-mouth sensation when released two years ago. That film ended with final girl Sienna (Lauren LaVera) decapitating Art the Clown after a protracted fight to the death. Art’s head is taken by Amelie McLain’s Little Pale Girl. In a graphic mid-credits scene, Victoria Heyes (Samantha Scaffidi) of the first film gives birth to Art the Clown’s living head. No doubt, Terrifier 3 will continue to expand upon Art’s almost mythic supernatural legacy.
Director Damien Leone has previously noted his intent to limit the runtime this go-round (Terrifier 2 ran almost two-and-a-half hours). Additionally, David Howard Thornton, Lauren LaVera, Elliot Fullam (Jonathan Shaw), and Samantha Scaffidi are attached to return.
In our review of the second film, we called Terrifier 2 a must-see cinematic outing, awarding it 4.5 stars out of 5. The first Terrifier is now available to stream on Prime Video and Peacock, and you can check out Terrifier 2 on Prime Video as well.
