British Phoenix Films and Burn Hand Film Productions have joined together to produce Zombies of the Night directed by Stuart Brennan and starring Joe Bone. The film is just wrapping up post-production and is slated for release in the fall of this year.
This morning one of the ghouls over at Anchor Bay UK dropped the goods news in our laps that they’ve acquired the latest Coffin Joe film, Embodiment of Evil, for DVD release in Great Britain!

A remake of Day of the Triffids is being prepped for production in the UK, and this morning Variety reports that a huge slew of stars have signed on for the project including Brian Cox, Eddie Izzard, Jason Priestly, Dougray Scott and Vanessa Redgrave.
It was pointed out to us shortly after posting our Dread set visit preview piece that the image we were given as an exclusive was not, in fact, an exclusive. So the folks behind the production were cool enough to provide us with a new pic that’s not been seen anywhere else.

The film stars the “Gavin & Stacey” one-two punch of James Corden and Matthew Horne, playing two guys looking to get away for a weekend of debauchery only to come face-to-fang with a village overrun by hot lesbian vampires! Doesn’t sound too bad to me…
MPI Media Group has acquired the UK cannibal film Gnaw for distribution in the U.S., or so says Variety this morning. We’ve not heard a helluva lot about this one, but according to MPI vide president of acquisitions Greg Newman, “This is British horror at its most base, vile and rude; fans will love it.”
While we patiently wait for the Sci Fi Channel debut (groan) of Eric Red’s 100 Feet, UK fans will be getting it directly on DVD come March 2nd, 2009, courtesy of DNC Entertainment.
I have to admit with a cheeserific title like Lesbian Vampire Killers I didn’t expect anything too great, but the trailer recently released by Momentum Pictures is pretty damn fun, all things considered. Don’t take my word for it, though; feast your eyes on it below!
You may recall a while back we gave you a heads up about a new show being produced for the BBC called “Being Human”; the story of a vampire, werewolf and ghost co-habitating in an apartment in London. While the premise sounds ripe for wacky hijinks, the actual execution was smart, funny and engaging.

Those blokes in the UK seem to always be one step ahead of us when it comes to good TV. How many shows on our major networks right now are remakes of British series? Hopefully we’ll be picking up on this new horror trend hitting the UK shortly, too.
