Now this is just weird.
Maybe The Weinsteins can’t see Kevin Smith as anything more than a comedy machine, but something has made them pass on his upcoming horror film, Red State, according to the Silent Bob Speaks blog.
Their reasoning? “Harvey thought it was more of a Bob flick and then Bob didn’t get it. They’d rather just concentrate on ‘Zack and Miri’ at the moment, which we’re all pumped about.” is what they told him when they made decision. He doesn’t seem to be upset about it, though, admitting that ”if they were gonna pass on anything, this’d be it”.
This will be the first time since Mallrats that Kevin has to come up with the budget for something on his own, which he’s actually pretty excited about. But seriously, what other studio would not want the first Kevin Smith horror flick under their roof? Expect more news soon!
Wonder why else they passed on the flick in the Dread Central forums!
