Now here’s something a bit different; a monster movie set during the age of Vikings. That’s a new one on me, but I’ll go along for the ride. The film is called Outlander, and is getting ready to start up its ten weeks of principal photography on October 9th in and around Halifax, British Columbia, according to Production Weekly.
Under the direction of Howard McCain (whose very short list of credits includes the Roger Corman Presents movie The Unspeakable), Outlander is the tale of what happens when a humanoid alien creature crash lands on Earth in 509 AD and unleashes a monster called Moorwen. The alien has to team with a band of barbarian Vikings (the best kind) to stop the creature before it kills everyone. The IMDB has Doom lead Karl Urban attached to star, but we all know how reliable that source can be...
Patrick Tatopoulos, who has worked on everything from the new Godzilla (for shame) to Silent Hill, will be designing the beast in question, and you can get an idea of how it will look based on the concept art above, which was discovered in an old story I found at Twitch Film. Said story has a few more pre-production sketches and a spolier-heavy plot breakdown, if you're curious. We'll have more for you as production gets underway!
Wish history could be this cool in our forums!
