SDCC 08: Cloverfield Monster!

If you’re one of the few who have yet to see Cloverfield and managed to avoid all the images of the monster once the film was released, congratulations. I have no idea how one would do that. If you’ve read this far, chances are you’re neither, so just move your eyeballs down a bit to check out some new pics of the monster fresh from the floor of Comic Con!

I really liked the flick and I haven't really seen the full monster till now and as much as i like the movie and liked the monster in it...I have to wonder how someone decides to make the monster look like this...

Simple: They tried a bit too hard to make their monster distinctive.

I think you are on the money there. But didn't someone involved say they did a lot of research in trying to make the creature biologically sound for it's environment-like what would a deep sea monster creature that could live on land really look like? Which would be confusing if it fell from space like some think.

Everything I've read suggests that the monster is indeed an alien who's been hibernating underneath the ocean, much like Cthulhu, so I think by making it "sound for its environment" they meant less having it make sense biologically than look like something from another planet. (hence the reverse-jointed knees on the front legs)

There's also the idea that what fell from the sky isn't what came out of the ocean. ;)

Also, $100 is too much for an action figure, size be damned.
