Two More Mash-Ups Coming: Sherlock Holmes and Dracula, Elvis Presley and Frankenstein

While we dig the concept of mashing up classic fiction and/or historical events with zombies and vampires, the trend is starting to become a little like 3D - it's anywhere and everywhere with no end in sight! But we have to admit we're intrigued by the two latest such projects we've heard about: The Further Adventures of Sherlock Holmes: Seance for a Vampire and Frankenstein Has Left the Building.

So we haven't really covered Warner Brothers' latest big screen adaptation of Sherlock Holmes starring Robert Downey, Jr., and Jude Law, but that is NOT going to stop us from giving away the DVD to a few lucky winners!

The Asylum Breeding a Megapiranha

When I got word from my man Avery that The Asylum had officially announced their mockbuster of Alex Aja’s Piranha 3D, I was not the least bit surprised other than I fully expected them to just add an "s" on the end and call it Piranhas. Instead the Asylum madmen have decided to up the ante by making it a Megapiranha.

You can definitely tell DVD companies are counting on everyone to have already bought all the videos they plan to give out this holiday season -- with the highlight of this week's releases being C Me Dance, I think you can see where this is going.

Elementary, My Dear Asylum

Later this year we'll be getting the Guy Ritchie directed Sherlock Holmes with Robert Downey Jr. as a more caddish, bumbling, action-oriented world's greatest detective than we're used to seeing.. Opinions have already been quite mixed on this new action-comedy Hollywood take on the usually sophisticated and literate Sir Arthur Conan Doyle creation. What will the purists say when they find out The Asylum is getting into the Sherlock Holmes game?
