Rainn Wilson Joins George R.R. Martin-Produced Series ‘Dark Winds’

Hello, but only to the George R.R. Martin fans in the house. Deadline recently caught wind that the upcoming Western noir series Dark Winds—produced by Martin—will now star Rainn Wilson (The Office, House of 1000 Corpses). Wilson stars alongside Zahn McClarnon and Kiowa Gordon in the drama which is based on Tony Hillerman’s white-hot novel Leaphorn & Chee.
About the Series
The new series sees a six-episode order from AMC and is set to premiere the new streamer AMC+ sometime in 2022. The show is a dark thriller revolving around two Navajo police officers by the names of Leaphorn and Chee. These two lead roles will be played by McClarnon and Gordon respectively. It takes place during the 1970s and the whole series a classic southern grimey feel. The officers are on the lookout for evidence in the case of a gruesome murder.
The role Wilson is set to fill is of Devoted Dan, a man of the cloth who runs a church out of his used-car lot. Twist, he’s also hella evil and does all sorts of stuff a man of faith shouldn’t be participating in. Seems like our friend Rainn Wilson is set to play a villain and we love to see it.
There have already been two film adaptions based on the novels, The Dark Wind and Skinwalkers. The producers behind the films join George R.R. Martin in creating the Dark Winds series for AMC. Vince Calandra will fill the role of showrunner.
Rainn Wilson is known for his breakout role of Dwight on NBC’s hit series The Office. He’s also appeared in other shows like Backstorm and Six Feet Under. Next up you can catch Dwight, I mean Rainn Wilson, in the Paranount+ film Jerry and Marge Go Large costarring Bryan Cranston and Annette Bening.
