There have been a lot of rumors going around as to who's going to be taking up the helm of Paranormal Activity 2 after Lionsgate had scheduled director Kevin Greutert yanked from the project to do Saw VII, and one such name that's been floating around is Akiva Goldsman. The Internet has been alive lately with chatter about him sliding into the director's chair.

Like the film or not, Paranormal Activity changed a lot of things in Hollywood, hopefully for the better. It was around December that we first told you about the studio being interesting in a micro-budget arm, and now it finally has a name.

While everyone's is still buzzing about the nice horror garnish that went along with the main course of the Oscars, it was at the Independent Spirit Awards two nights before where some Paranormal Activity sequel news came about.

The 2010 Oscars provided an interesting show to say the least ... if only because our beloved genre finally got some of the recognition that it so richly deserves.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. We know. We totally got the shaft Stateside for our Paranormal Activity Blu-ray release (though we're fairly certain a double dip will be coming) as the UK has a mega edition (story here) coming on March 22nd courtesy of Icon Home Entertainment. If we can't have our own set of extras, at least we can watch a bit of theirs on YouTube.

After the mess caused by the yanking of director Kevin Greutert off of the sequel to 2009's mega-hit Paranormal Activity, we've all been left wondering -- who's gonna be steering the ship? The names being thrown about recently are not only promising, they're also a bit shocking!

Mark your calendars, UK fans, as Oren Peli’s love-it-or-hate-it spookfest Paranormal Activity will be ready to make you very uncomfortable in your own home on March 22nd courtesy of Icon Home Entertainment. Even better is that both the Blu-ray and DVD editions will be sporting some UK EXCLUSIVE special features!

Aside from waiting for an update on the status of its sequel and rooting for it to win an Independent Spirit Award on March 5th, we honestly haven't been paying too much attention to Paranormal Activity's roll-out across the rest of the globe. But all that changed today with the report that despite being a box office hit in Italy, the film has "kicked up a storm among [Italian] politicians and associations on Monday because it is terrifying teenagers and children across the country." Bravo, Oren!

Holy cow, have things just gotten really interesting ... really fast!

Ok. Color us speechless. It's no surprise that a sequel to the smash phenom Paranormal Activity is on its way. The movie made millions and dethroned the Saw franchise as October's biggest moneymaker.

There was a really good and spooky time to be had at Jessica DiMeo of Rehoboth, Massachusetts' house this past Monday, as Paramount put on one hell of a screening party in her home. Of course Dread Central was on hand for hosting duties, and now we bring to you our own gallery coverage of the event!
