Night of the Little Dead

With Screamfest LA celebrating its 11th anniversary this fall (the venerated Los Angeles film festival – which is spearheaded by Rachel Belofsky – runs this October 14-23 in Hollywood, CA), the fest hosted last Thursday night another of its monthly mixers, and we were there to snap a few photos and to chat with the filmmakers in attendance.

This morning "Face/Off" reality television star and filmmaker/FX maestro Frank Ippolito chatted up his horror short Night of the Little Dead on KROQ’s "Kevin and Bean" radio show, so we thought it high time to bring you the first look at two new trailers for the film as well as a handful of exclusive monster-centric stills of the titular creature.

On the heels of coverage stemming from our set visit (read it here) to the short flick "Night of the Little Dead" and just prior to giving you an exclusive peek at the titular monster (stay tuned!), we thought we’d share with you this behind-the-scenes clip produced by Peter Podgursky.

Cinema has spent much time exploring ways in which to protect the ol’ noggin from unwanted noshing by the undead, but what of the more vertically challenged zombie? Dare we ask what body parts they may prefer?

On January 8, 2011, this writer took a trip up La Tuna Canyon just outside Sun Valley, CA, for a visit to Frank Ippolito’s then-shooting short film "Night of the Little Dead" (set visit and photos coming soon) and while there chatted with one of that film’s stars, genre vet Bill Moseley, who talked up a few of his other horror projects, including Susanna Lo’s upcoming feature Manson Girls
