Greg McLean is Welcomed to the JungleGreg McLean has been kicking a lot of cinematic ass lately and he is showing zero signs of slowing down. Next for the Wolf Creek franchise director is an adaptation of Yossi Ghinsberg’s memoir Lost in the Jungle.

From the Press Release
Arclight Films and producer Dana Lustig announce Greg McLean will direct JUNGLE, a thriller based on the international best selling memoir written by Yossi Ghinsberg. Arclight Films has come on board to handle sales worldwide and will be presenting the project to buyers in Cannes. CAA is packaging the film and represents the U.S. distribution rights. Shooting is set to begin toward the end of the year on location in La Paz, Bolivia and in the rainforest of Australia’s Gold Coast.

McLean directed box office sensation WOLF CREEK that earned a major cult following, ROGUE and WOLF CREEK 2, and is now shooting 6 MIRANDA DRIVE with Kevin Bacon and Radha Mitchell.

“I am so thrilled to be making a film about this astonishing true tale of survival and personal transformation,” said McLean. “The raw and honest narration of both book and script read like a classic thriller that has deep spiritual resonance alongside the challenging and horrific events that unfold.”

JUNGLE tells the story of Yossi, a young enthusiastic man with adventurous dreams who heads into the Bolivian jungle with two friends and a fraudulent guide. Their journey turns into a frightening psychological test of faith and human fortitude against the deadliest threats of the wilderness.

“The commercial value of this film combined with the brilliant, mind-bending action and adventure filmmaking unique to Greg McLean immediately captivated us,” said Gary Hamilton Managing Director of Arclight Films. “JUNGLE is a film that is bound to thrill audiences worldwide and we’re all delighted to be part of this exciting journey.”

“The story is extremely timely and inspiring and will be filmed in some of the world’s most exotic locations, with complex characters struggling to make their peace with nature in order to survive,” said Lustig. “There are four exhilarating roles yet to be cast that are a dream come true for actors and will showcase the diversity of any performer.”

The script was written by one of Australia’s leading screenwriters, Justin Monjo (RUSH, THE ALICE, The Untold Story of INXS).

JUNGLE is produced by Dana Lustig (DANCING IN THE BLUE LAGUNA, THOUSAND KISSES KEEP), Gary Hamilton (LORD OF WAR, BAIT, THE BANK JOB), and Mike Gabrawy (RESIDENT EVIL, BAIT).

Screen Australia and Screen Queensland have been supporting the development of the project.
