The Infected Needs Help Spreading its Sickness
We told you about the horror project The Infected about a week or so ago, and the people behind it are now reaching out to the horror community to help get this thing out and infecting the masses.
From the Press Release
Writer/director Barry Morgan (Arcana) and actress/producer Helenna Santos (American Reunion, Black Box TV) are well under way with post-production for the new short horror film The Infected. In order to get the film on screens for horror lovers everywhere, they are looking to the indie horror community for assistance in raising finishing funds.
With picture lock completed, The Infected is now off to color correction, sound design, and scoring.
Morgan states: “The cast and crew did an amazing job bringing this wonderfully sick story to life. While in pre-production we had planned to immediately put the short online when completed, but once editing was finished, we realized that we have a pretty great gem on our hands. We would love to bring The Infected to film festivals, both domestically and internationally, and in order for that to happen, we need help with finishing funds so that we are putting out the best product possible.”
Santos added: “I’m extremely proud of this project. It’s 15 minutes of pure horror fun that I can’t wait to show to the world. We have awesome perks available through our indiegogo campaign, including a private screening with the cast and crew here in Los Angeles and Skype chats or coffee chats with both myself and Barry. Meeting our primary crowdfunding goal would help us to complete the film and submit it to as many festivals as possible, but our grand stretch goal is to bring this to the masses as a feature film.”
In addition to Helenna Santos, The Infected also stars Jerod Meagher (The ABCs of Death 2, Guys Reading Poems), Austin Hillebrecht ("Grimm," Arcana), and Melissa Katzin (The Forgotten). The film’s director of photography is John K.D. Graham (Home Sweet Home) with sound design by Sam Read and visual FX and original score by Austin Hillebrecht.
Four friends meet to celebrate their college graduation when a dirty bomb containing a highly contagious and lethal virus explodes in Los Angeles. Quarantined together in a tiny apartment, they pass the time with drugs, sex, and alcohol. As the effects of the virus begin to set in, a sickness invades their bodies, and they all turn on one another in a battle to survive. Little do they know, the plague outside the front door is nowhere near as strong as the illness they've created inside.
