Rest in Peace James Gandolfini

Rest in Peace James GandolfiniIn truly tragic and sobering news, acclaimed actor James Gandolfini has passed away in Italy at the age of just 51. This is without question a terrible loss for both the television and film industries. Read on for details.

Deadline broke the news that Gandolfini's cause of death looks to be a massive heart attack. Over the years James has played many a frightening character, including Virgil in True Romance and of course Tony in HBO's "The Sporanos." His entry into the film biz came, as it does for so many, via a horror movie. The little seen flick from 1987 was entitled Shock! Shock! Shock!, and even though he never revisited the horror genre again, we were happy to have him, even if it was just briefly.

We here at Dread Central express our deepest of condolences to James' many friends, family members, and constituents. You will be missed, sir, and you will always be our favorite boss of bosses. Ciao.

I'm a huge fan of The Sopranos. It was one of my favorite dramas of all time. Even took a road trip to Holsten's Restaurant in Jersey where they filmed the infamous final episode. Gandolfini was awesome, bigger than life and deserving of a Tip of the Scalpel, indeed. He will be missed.
