Not Safe for Work Not Safe for Theatrical Run
It's been a long time since we heard anything regarding Joe Johnston's new flick for Universal, Not Safe for Work, but finally there's a little bit of news. It's not great news, but at least it's something. Read on for details.
In a recent interview with the L.A. Times regarding The Purge, producer Jason Blum mentioned that the film will in fact bypass theaters and instead debut on video-on-demand platforms at some unspecified date. "Some of my movies work, and some of them don't," Blum said. "I want to be able to say to the studio, 'We missed; let's go to VOD.'"
For the film Johnston reteamed with his Captain America star JJ Feild (Neil Marshall's Centurion) along with Tom Gallop (The Bourne Identity) and Emmy winner Christian Clemenson ("CSI: Miami"). Max Minghella (The Social Network) stars as the cunning protagonist, while Eloise Mumford (ABC's "The River") plays his girlfriend, who works at the same office along with Clemenson.
Horror favorites Adam Mason and Simon Boyes (Blood River, The Devil's Chair) wrote the script, which follows a young paralegal trapped in an office with a killer on a secret mission to destroy files and anyone that stands in his path.
