Warner Brothers Fed After Midnight! Looking to Reboot Gremlins!

Warner Brothers Fed After Midnight! Looking to Reboot Gremlins!Sooner or later every single movie that we know and love will most likely be remade, rehashed, rebooted, sequelized and prequelized. There's just no getting around it. Tonight word of a Gremlins reboot began floating around once again.

According to New York Magazine's Vulture, Warner Bros. Pictures is negotiating with Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment to reboot the 1984 horror comedy Gremlins, which was originally directed by Joe Dante. These talks have sprouted up several times over the years but for one reason or another never came to fruition. What makes this time any different? The site explains their sources tell them that it might just actually come off this time.

Either way, we wouldn't be surprised if once again this idea is shot down, but this is Hollyweird, man. Anything could happen. Stay tuned.

Not in favour of the idea myself, but at least its a film old enough to see the technological benefits of a REMAKE (I'm not buying into the 'rebranding' of 'remakes' as 'reboots').

"Reboot" means they couldn't come up with a completely original idea and are hoping to cash in on the name/nostalgia of the original for sales of something that could just as easily be completely unrelated, which otherwise would just be ignored.

"Remake" means they couldn't come up with an original idea at all. At least they're being slightly more honest when they say this.

Honestly can't think of a single good remake/reboot in the past decade asides from The Hills Have Eyes. Oh to be back in the 80s, when the remakes were of classic movies that genuinely benefited from a new take on their concepts by twisted directors. The Fly, The Blob, The Thing, oh my. None of this shit of "we can make money by just doing the movie again but this time with CGI and a popular lead actor."

I'm ranting, doubtless preaching to the converted, I'll stop now before I get too into it.

Could be good! Bring back Howie Mandell for Gizmo, bring on a new cast of characters, a mix of CG and animatronics and it could be a nice continuation.

I look forward to the CG Gremlins!
