Rest in Peace Director David R. Ellis

Rest in Peace Director David R. EllisSome truly shocking and sad news has hit the wire as director David R. Ellis (Snakes on a Plane, Shark Night, Final Destination 2) is no longer with us. Details are scarce at the moment, but read on for what we know as of now.

Deadline reports that Ellis died in Johannesburg, South Africa. The director passed away suddenly early this morning (Los Angeles time). Ellis was just 60 years old, and the cause of death is not yet known. Ellis was in South Africa preparing to direct the film Kite; the director’s live-action adaptation of the 1998 Japanese anime was set to reunite Ellis with his Snakes star Samuel L. Jackson.

We here at Dread Central would like to take this time to offer our most sincerest of condolences to David's many friends, his family, and constituents. Rest easy, kind sir, and thanks for all the fun rides.
