Supernatural Western The Sixth Gun in Development at NBC
Another horror-themed TV show is in development at a major network as NBC is working with Carlton Cuse ("Lost," "Bates Motel") and screenwriter Ryan Condal to adapt Oni Press’ graphic novel series The Sixth Gun.
Per THR, Condal is set to pen the script as well as executive produce along with Cuse and Closed on Monday's co-founder Eric Gitter and Andy Bourne. The project marks the first network sale for Closed on Mondays and Oni Press under their new multi-year deal with Universal Television. This effort is based on the comics created by Cullen Bunn and Brian Hurtt, whose previous Oni book series, The Damned, is in development at Showtime.
The project, which is being produced by Universal TV and Oni's production company Closed on Mondays Entertainment, is the story of six mythical guns in the Old West.
The Sixth Gun Volume #1 Synopsis:
During the darkest days of the Civil War, wicked cutthroats came into possession of six pistols of otherworldly power. The Sixth Gun - the most dangerous of the weapons - vanished. When the gun surfaces in the hands of an innocent girl, dark forces reawaken. Villains thought long dead set their sights on retrieving the gun and killing anyone in their path. Only Drake Sinclair, a gunslinger with a shadowy past, stands in their way.
