Lionsgate Finds a Director! XOXO!
No, that was not an exclamation of love over Lionsgate finding a director for its new film. XOXO is actually the title of the flick, and social media will never be the same. Read on for the latest details on the project, which was originally announced over a year ago.
According to Variety, Lionsgate has inked a development deal with director George Nolfi (The Adjustment Bureau), attaching him to helm and oversee a rewrite of social media thriller XOXO.
Written on spec by Black Swan scribe Mark Heyman, XOXO is an elevated genre tale set in the world of Facebook, where things aren't always as they seem. Nolfi will supervise a rewrite by Heyman.
Darren Aronofsky and Michael London (Sideways) will produce XOXO through their respective shingles, Protozoa Pictures and Groundswell Prods., whose Kelly Mullen brought in the project and will also be involved in a producing capacity.
Described as Fatal Attraction for the digital age, the story follows an on-the-rise executive who's engaged to be married but enjoys flirting online. He meets an alluring woman on Facebook and the two begin a virtual relationship, but he soon discovers that his Internet romance is seeping into his actual life in a deadly way.
