HBO Renews True Blood for a Sixth Season

True BloodBack in May it was announced that if HBO should decide to renew "True Blood", Alan Ball would be stepping down as showrunner, to be replaced by his co-executive producer Mark Hudis. Well, fangbangers, the inevitable has indeed taken place.

TVLine reports that the supernatural soap opera has indeed been renewed for a sixth season. Ball, who’s working on new shows for Cinemax and HBO, will remain an executive producer on the show.

The Season 5 premiere of "True Blood" had 6.3 million viewers across both of its broadcasts, almost reaching the numbers it hit with the previous season’s debut, so the renewal was pretty much a no-brainer.
