Have a Look at My Comatose Mother Director's Electric Light
Filmmaker Jonathan Martin, whose short film An Evening With My Comatose Mother has racked up 67 film festival awards and is now slated for a big-budget feature version, gave us a look today at the "Electric Light" music video he directed for the band Muscle Hawk. Check it out!
Written, directed and produced by Martin with cinematography by Derek Pueblo, the filmmaker collaborated with his Comatose co-conspirators Chris Hanson (Makeup Effects) and Alex Johnson (Visual Effects), as he did with editor Jeff Yeats, with whom he co-edited. Rachael Domingo and Kish Carter provided the outlandish costumes as worn by the video’s creatures.
Shot over the course of three days in Utah, Martin told us of the "Electric Light" production, “This video is a labor of love. It contains all the things I love: sci-fi, portals, film references, great parties, great music, sexy and creepy aliens, and more. I hope you enjoy the video and love it as much as I enjoyed making it."
As for An Evening With My Comatose Mother (which in this writer’s estimation is the perfect companion to another film which deserves much more recognition: Michael Dougherty’s fantastic Trick 'r Treat), “A feature film is very much in the works and is potentially days away from an official greenlight,” said Martin. “Until then, not much can be said outside of the fact that a highly respected actor is attached, more are in talks, the film will be shot in 3D, distribution talks have already begun and it will definitely not be a low-budget horror film.”
