During last night’s mid-season finale of “The Walking Dead,” you may have noticed a quick viral video featuring rats running amok in a seemingly ordinary setting. What you may not have realized is that it was the first viral video for FX’s adaptation of Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan’s “The Strain.”
No worries though; we have the video and the show’s title treatment for you right here and MORE! Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan (co-authors of the novel on which the show is based) co-wrote the pilot, which del Toro also directed. Carlton Cuse serves as showrunner and writer. Gary Ungar executive produces the FX Productions series.
The story centers on Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll), the head of the Center for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City. He and his team are called upon to investigate a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism. As the strain spreads, Eph, his team, and an assembly of everyday New Yorkers wage war for the fate of humanity itself.
“The Strain,” aiming for a July 2014 debut for its 13-episode first season, also stars Mia Maestro, Sean Astin, Kevin Durand, Natalie Brown, Jonathan Hyde, Richard Sammel, Robert Maillet, Jack Kesy, Ben Hyland, and Miguel Gomez.
