Shock Till You Drop
Sequels to the original Evil Dead franchise have been rumored, teased, and talked about since as far back as I can remember. Now that The Evil Dead has been remade, you’d think those rumors would come to an end, but that hasn’t quite been the case.
The latest rumor is that both Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi would be re-teaming for Army of Darkness 2, which was allegedly confirmed by Campbell last week. The horror community of course exploded with excitement about the news, most not only fearing but also knowing that it was simply too good be true. Sadly, it was too good. And it’s not true.
In an interview with Shock Till You Drop at this past weekend’s Comikaze Expo, Bruce Campbell dispelled the rumors, saying that “it’s all internet b.s. – there’s no reality to it whatsoever.” He continued, “These random comments slip out of my mouth or Sam Raimi’s mouth; next thing you know, we’re making a sequel.”
Lesson learned? Take anything you hear about the return of Ash with a grain of salt, and don’t ever listen to anything Bruce Campbell says. This isn’t the first time he’s spread around false rumors, only to dismiss them shortly thereafter, and it surely won’t be the last.
In any event, you can check out the heartbreaking interview below, wherein Bruce sets the record straight.
