Bruce Campbell Takes a Chainsaw Hand to Army of Darkness 2 RumorsSequels to the original Evil Dead franchise have been rumored, teased, and talked about since as far back as I can remember. Now that The Evil Dead has been remade, you’d think those rumors would come to an end, but that hasn’t quite been the case.

The latest rumor is that both Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi would be re-teaming for Army of Darkness 2, which was allegedly confirmed by Campbell last week. The horror community of course exploded with excitement about the news, most not only fearing but also knowing that it was simply too good be true. Sadly, it was too good. And it’s not true.

In an interview with Shock Till You Drop at this past weekend’s Comikaze Expo, Bruce Campbell dispelled the rumors, saying that “it’s all internet b.s. – there’s no reality to it whatsoever.” He continued, “These random comments slip out of my mouth or Sam Raimi’s mouth; next thing you know, we’re making a sequel.

Lesson learned? Take anything you hear about the return of Ash with a grain of salt, and don’t ever listen to anything Bruce Campbell says. This isn’t the first time he’s spread around false rumors, only to dismiss them shortly thereafter, and it surely won’t be the last.

In any event, you can check out the heartbreaking interview below, wherein Bruce sets the record straight.

Called it. Love the series, but the only thing with potential is the sequel to the remake. Bring on Evil Dead 2!

  • Uncle Creepy

My favorite part is when he calls it “Internet Bullshit” when it’s him being quoted. It’s seriously amaze balls.

  • Jinx

Fuck’s sake, already. I don’t even WANT an Army of Darkness sequel anymore, what with being yanked around by those bozos for the better part of two decades.

Leave Raimi and his rapidly dimishing talent to the likes of soulless Hollywood blockbusters, and Campbell to settle into his post-Burn Notice obscurity.

I’ll be content to simply enjoy the work of those guys back when they gave a – geez, being kinda negative and mean-spirited here.

It’s just – dammit! Stop toying with the emotions of those who have supported you throughout your careers, gents. If you don’t want to make Evil Dead IV or AoD 2, don’t. But if you say you’re going to – make good on your word. Criminy.

    • MonsterMash

I’ll be just as happy if it never happens at this rate. AoD is a picture-perfect finish. You’re absolutely right. If Bruce wants to keep doing quirky indie stuff like Bubba, I’m down with that, but this is nonsense.

  • Uncle Creepy

Nice, Bruce. Really nice. You’ve become almost as bad as Bill Murray.

    • Sirand

I’ve been hearing very different things around town.

Unless the project derailed recently, I wouldn’t write this off just yet. Bruce could very well be fucking with the fanbase.

      • LSD Zombie

I could totally see Bruce Campbell doing that.

        I love Bruce’s trolling.

All he has to do is say “jump” and the entire Internet goes scrambling for their keyboards.

        I’d be amused too.

        • Uncle Creepy

Oh yeah, it’s full of fucking joy and mirth to work on something for no reason at all. I love wasting my own time. It’s awesome. Go Bruce.
