While horror fans tend to not see eye to eye on many issues, one thing we can all agree on is that old school practical effects should never take a back seat to CGI – which they unfortunately do these days, far more often than they don’t.
If you agree with this statement, then director Benni Diez is looking to please you with his first feature film Stung!
Our friends over at Twitch just shared the first still from the flick, which is produced by Twitch’s founder/editor Todd Brown. While Diez had originally unveiled a proof of concept trailer that was loaded with CGI, the still shows a whole different vision, one that includes a badass looking animatronic bug. Word is that Diez will be using practical effects as much as possible with CGI as a supplement rather than a crutch.
Check out the still below along with the aforementioned proof of concept trailer!
The flick stars Peter Stormare, Lance Henriksen, Clifton Collins, Jessica Cook and Matt O’Leary.
A fancy garden party goes terribly wrong after a local species of wasps mutate into giant predators. It’s up to Paul and Julia, two catering staffers at the high-society event, to stop the killer creatures – an effort that kickstarts a budding romance between the two.
