Trademark Filed for Alien: Isolation; First Details Revealed!Despite that it was rather fun to play, Aliens: Colonial Marines had many warts and was a severely flawed shooter that left more than a bad taste in the mouths of many gamers. Now it sounds as if the powers-that-be are looking to right that wrong. We think…

Siliconera spotted a recent trademark filed for Alien: Isolation. The mark covered “computer game and video game software; interactive video game programs; video game discs; etc.” Plus, Total War developer Creative Assembly is currently hiring for a “AAA Alien licensed console project.

After a bit of digging, Kotaku, managed to shed some light on exactly what this new project is as follows:

Alien: Isolation we hear will be on both current and next-gen consoles next year. Isolation is developed by the British studio Creative Assembly (Total War); it’s a first-person shooter that uses both stealth and horror elements; and it’s inspired by games like Dishonored and Bioshock, according to [Kotaku’s] source, a person familiar with goings-on at Sega, who spoke under condition of anonymity in the interest of protecting their job.

Perhaps most importantly, [Kotaku’s] source says that Sega took the critical reception to Aliens: Colonial Marines very seriously, and the publisher put together a postmortem following the near-unanimously negative reactions to their last Aliens game, which was developed by the studios Gearbox and TimeGate. They want to make sure Isolation is a better game, and according to [Kotaku’s] source, it’s already been delayed at least once—Sega originally planned to announce the game at E3 of 2013.

Stay tuned.

I will not give SEGA another chance after the horrendous Colonial Marines which if i remember right this site’s reviewer gave a positive review opinions vary i guess but that game blew (IMO).

Nothing compares to the original ALIEN game for the Atari 2600. Amazing gameplay!

  • Chernobyl Kinsman

They have said the main enemies in the game will be clones and soldiers.

    So, y’know, fuck that.

I guess they came up with the big flaw from Colonial Marines being all those pesky aliens.

    • theGoldenSimatar

Amen because in an ALIEN game I really don’t want to be fighting xenomorphs; I want to be fighting soldiers and clones.

      • Uncle Creepy

Why fight cool looking aliens when you can fight nameless generic soldiers?

        • Chernobyl Kinsman

Well, I for one feel its about time someone made an FPS with generic soldiers as enemies.

My ideal Alien game would be developed by Visceral Games. But that will never happen.

  • theGoldenSimatar

Even if it is only marginally better than ‘Colonial Marines’ it will be a huge step forward. Though based upon the Total War games with Creative Assembly; the gameplay might be fun but it’ll be riddled with numerous bugs and glitches.
