Precursor Games is the latest to turn to Kickstarter to help make their latest dream a reality. Described as a “story-driven spiritual successor to 2002’s Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem,” Shadow of the Eternals is a single-player psych-horror action adventure that looks pretty nifty…
…what with the “sweeping vistas, dungeons, horrific characters and highly detailed backgrounds” and all.
The Shadow of the Eternals storyline goes a little something like this:
Detective Paul Becker is called to Louisiana’s Pleasant View Hospital, where one of the bloodiest gang massacres in the state’s history has just occurred and has left two survivors – one a businessman and the other a hardened biker – who have no memory of what’s just happened but know their objective is to kill the other. While questioning the survivors/suspects, we find ourselves in Hungary ca. 1610 AD at Csejthe Castle a.k.a. home of the infamous serial killer Erzsébet Báthory, credited with killing at least 400 young women in her quest to stay “forever young.”
Here’s where it gets weird…
YOU are Klara, Bathory’s handmaiden and lover, blackmailed by the authorities into gathering information about a nobleman’s missing daughter (presumed killed by Bathory); and in this quest Klara’s life will be changed (you guessed it) forever.

So far, they’ve reached nearly $227K of their $750K goal with 15 days remaining. With a fall 2014 target release date for PC, Wii U and (now that Precursor Games is now an official PS4 developer) they’ve added the PS4 as a “stretch goal” in their campaign.
