UPDATE: Here There Be Monsters for Legendary Pictures and Robert Zemeckis





Here there be MonstersLegendary Pictures sure is big on monsters lately with both Pacific Rim and Godzilla gearing up to stomp around. Not that we're complaining, mind you. In fact we love it! Time to add another creature feature to the ever growing list!

According to The Wrap, Brian Helgeland (L.A. Confidential, Mystic River) has been hired to write Here There Be Monsters, a movie about Revolutionary War Naval hero John Paul Jones -- except with sea monsters, individuals close to the project confirmed.

Producers of the Warner Bros./Legendary project are in talks with Robert Zemeckis to direct. Here There Be Monsters is based on an concept by Legendary Pictures CEO Thomas Tull.

According to MovieWeb Robert Zemeckis has officially signed on to direct.

For years Helgeland was trying to get his version of Moby Dick off the ground. I'm guessing there's already a script getting retooled for this one.
