Warner Bros. landed Ryan Gosling’s How to Catch a Monster at this year’s Cannes Film Market, and now the feature has its star! Variety reports that newcomer Iain De Caestecker has come on board for the male lead in Gosling’s directorial debut.
Gosling both wrote and directs How to Catch a Monster, which stars De Caestecker (pictured), Saoirse Ronan, Christina Hendricks, Eva Mendes, Matt Smith, Ben Mendelsohn, and Rob Zabrecky. Marc Platt is the primary producer. The film is being financed and produced by Bold Films, and Sierra/Affinity will sell Gosling’s film overseas.
How to Catch a Monster is described as a fantasy thriller in which a single mother is swept into a dark underworld while her teenage son discovers a road that leads him to a secret underwater town.
