Adria Petty to Direct Suffocate for Radar Pictures
Adria Petty (daughter of rocker Tom) has been tapped to direct the Ben Olson-penned Suffocate for Radar Pictures as her narrative feature film debut. Described as a "thriller", Suffocate does seem to have enough genre elements to warrant a mention here on Dread, but only time will tell how much coverage we'll wind up doing in the future.
Per Deadline Suffocate is about a group of city workers who enter a hoarder's condemned brownstone and find it loaded with deadly traps and an unrelenting killer. The group is forced to use their wits--and demolition tools--to stay alive.
Petty's background includes commercials for the likes of McDonald's and Target and music videos for Beyonce and Regina Spektor. She directed the documentary Paris, Not France and a recent Live in London concert film with Spektor.
Look for more soon if it turns out this one lands on the horror side of the fence.
