Though he can currently be found whipping superhero ass in Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds, Dante, star of the video game franchise Devil May Cry, is getting set to visit Adaptation City for Sony Pictures.

According to Variety Screen Gems has purchased feature film rights to video game publisher Capcom’s hit series Devil May Cry.

Kyle Ward has been hired to pen the script, which revolves around the character of Dante, who avenges his mother’s murder by killing off demons.

Devil May Cry was originally developed as the third installment of the Resident Evil games — another Capcom property. However, once the game’s design wound up veering too far from Resident Evil‘s style, Capcom decided to launch the title as an original property. Devil May Cry has sold more than 10 million copies worldwide.

More soon.
