With the thriller The Call opening wide on March 15th, we sat down with actress Abigail Breslin to discuss that film, and during our chat she riffed too on her upcoming vehicle Final Girl. Read on!
Written by Adam Prince, Stephen Scarlata, Alejandro Seri and Johnny Silver and helmed by celebrity photographer turned first-time director Tyler Shields, Final Girl chronicles the tale of a pack of teenage boys who choose the wrong girl to be the victim of their “initiation.” Breslin stars as the lead, with Alexander Ludwig, Wes Bentley, Logan Huffman, Connor Paolo, Francesca Eastwood and Michael Trevino rounding out the cast.
“I watch a horror movie probably twice a week,” Breslin, who received an Oscar nomination for her work in 2006’s Little Miss Sunshine and whose genre credits include the feature films Signs and Zombieland, effused when asked of her love of the genre.
“I’m obsessed with horror movies,” she continued.
As for Final Girl, Breslin stated, “It’s really exciting and bizarre. I just finished filming it so I’m really excited for it. I’m still really confused by what happened while we were filming because a lot happened and it was crazy and insane, and Tyler Shields directed it, and that speaks on its own, if you know who Tyler Shields is. I’m just really excited for people to see it.”
Check out the trailer below.
Loner Veronica is new to school, shy and vulnerable, the perfect target for a group of teenage boys who lure girls into the woods to hunt and kill them for sport. It’s only after they get her alone that she turns the tables on them, escaping and revealing she’s armed and knows how to defend herself. Little do they know, Veronica is an assassin-in-training, and she’s chosen killing these boys as her final test. When the dust clears, Veronica will find out if she can be the final girl these boys ever have a chance to hurt.
