Sam Raimi Talks More Evil Dead 4It’s amazing how quickly we can go from absolutely joyous to head-hangingly depressed. Joy and pain. Sunshine and rain. Godzilla 1954 and Godzilla 1998. Read on for the latest from Sam Raimi on Evil Dead 4 and then cringe.

As per Bleeding Cool: “I would like to work on the script over the summer,” Raimi explains. “That much is true. But the reason to come back and do it again is only that they’re making me, those fans… I am thinking about it, but a crowd goes ‘Come on Sam, do it!’ so I said ‘Okay, I guess I was talking to my brother about it.’ But I feel like I was pushed into saying that, a little bit.

Raimi continues, “I was saying to Ivan ‘Why do they stay on this thing? Why do they keep at it?’ and he said ‘They want you to make a movie. You’re a filmmaker and your fans are asking you to make the movie. What are you, an idiot? Make the movie!’ I guess there’s something I don’t see. It makes sense when Ivan says it… I didn’t have a tremendous amount of passion until right now to bring to it.”

Make of all that what you will. To us it sounds more like he’d like to make the movie, but it isn’t the sure thing we were led to believe previously. So yeah, about all that Ghostbusters 3 news…

    It won’t happen anyway.

I agree with theGoldenSimatar. If Raimi feels forced to do it and not because I wants to, then I’d rather him just leave it alone. We’ve already seen what happens when he’s forced to do things, look no further than Spider-Man 3. I’d love Evil Dead 4, but not at the detriment of the franchise…

You mean you wouldn’t want an Emo Ash? LOL?

The image of an Emo Bruce Campbell sent a shiver down my spine.

I think it’d just be a bit strange doing an Evil Dead IV in the original chronology with the remake coming out. While I’d be interested in seeing another adventure of Ash going toe-to-toe with the Deadites; what could be done to make it fresh and different than the previous films?

More importantly, if Raimi feels like he’s being forced to do it and doesn’t have the personal creative spark for it…I rather it be left alone. If the spark comes to him; that’s fantastic. But if the spark hasn’t struck…leave a 4th film by the wayside.
