Platinum Dunes' The Amityville Horror Hitting Blu-ray

You know, as much as I dislike saying this, other than Amityville II: The Possession, the Platinum Dunes version of The Amityville Horror is probably the second best film in the franchise. Although for most part the franchise itself pretty much sucked to begin with so I guess in retrospect that's really not saying very much.

Either way MGM will be releasing that ridiculously short film that sees Ryan Reynolds go from family man to batshit nuts in a nano-second to Blu-ray on September 14th. The package will include both a Blu disc and a DVD.

No artwork has been released yet, nor have any special features been announced, but we'd expect everything that came with the DVD release to be ported over.

Look for more soon.

Jay Anson's book scared the shit out of me and, once upon a time, I was looking forward to this remake.

And then I saw it and realized that everything from "Amityville 4: The Evil Escapes" to "Amityville Dollhouse" is superior to this piece of shit.

There's no doubt, this wasn't a great flick but it IS better than Dollhouse! LOL

I remember when this was being made and I was mentally cheering. Finally a movie that needed a remake. It was a well known title but the original film was boring and poorly directed.

Alas, Dunes could barely one up the bland crap that was the original. I saw this in the theater but I won't be sucked in to sticking a copy in my blu ray player.

Me too. It's ludicrous that people keep getting this story wrong. It's rife with stuff to make a great horror movie. There's no need to slather on made up shit that goes nowhere.
